(6/24) Doctors Appointment
For the duration of the pregnancy, we'll visit our high-risk pregnancy doctor once every two weeks for the main purpose of getting an ultrasound to check her cervical length and cerclage. Good news is that both look excellent and Rachel's cervix is actually growing (up to 4cm from 3cm last week). More importantly, we got to see baby girl again and this past week she was, according to the ultrasound tech, "chillin". I know, we're relatively spoiled - most girls only have one or two ultrasounds during an entire pregnancy, so this fact doesn't get lost on us ... one of the only perks of having a high risk pregnancy I suppose. Last piece of good news: all sequential screen tests are negative, whew!
This Weeks Interesting Anecdotes from Our Mamas
Grandma #1 (my mom): My Mom mentioned to me that she never had any ultrasounds for me or any of my brothers - didn't know that ultrasounds were a modern occurrence? This marvel of modern medicine probably would've come in handy to predict that my soon to be sister
Grandma #2 (Rach's mom): My Mom #2 mentioned that my sis-in-law Genee could be heard sucking her thumb while in the womb. My quick scientific analysis determined that this was a truly dubious claim, but it's up to debate :0). After sis-in-law was born, her only pacification was a good 'ol thumb suck, but because newborns' body control is still questionable, and Genee could not quite get the thumb to her mouth, Mom #2 proceeded to place and hold her thumb to her mouth for her. Sucky!
Wardrobe
Rach has been lamenting the fact that many of her clothes don't fit any more, and to a general feeling of not "looking cute" (though I have say that she's looking stunning as always, brownie point husband!). Now, like most husbands, a trip to the dreaded South Coast Plaza, is an exercise in pain. iPhone's have given some husbands, like me, a respite from the agony of the bore-a-thon of shopping, but this particular trip was a tad different.
Turns out that one of Rach's favorite retailers, H&M, has a pretty significant collection of maternity wear. Rach came away with some pretty fashionable items, but none more fashionable than this:
Hello, my name is Hello!
Baby Girl's first winter coat! Now being the manly man that I am, I never declare anything "cute", but after seeing this, not only did I think it was cute, but I was having instant cute overload to the nth power! Looks like baby girl is going to be just as fashion-forward as her Mama. (^_^)
Have a great week everyone!

correction made pop, good catch!
That Hello winter coat is indeed to the nth power. Would n-tier baby clothes be layers? Nerd power!
